LISTEN
There are many different ways to get information and one way is to listen to it! Over the last few weeks of class, we've been listening to different kinds of podcasts to learn. Some were about science, some were about history, some told us folktales from different countries, and there were a lot more!
For this project, you're going to decide which kind of podcast is your favorite - AND MAKE YOUR OWN! You can do this alone or with the help of a family member, but this is you're time to share something that you're interested in with all of 3rd grade.
Follow the steps below and when you've finished your podcast, upload it and I'll put in on the website!

2. Choose the subject of your podcast.
When trying to pick a topic for a podcast, it can be helpful to think about topics that you already love to talk about. Maybe you love learning about space or talking with your friends about hockey. Maybe your favorite subject is writing and you love telling your own stories or you have very strong opinions about the books that you read. Try to choose something that is easy for you to talk about because you love it so much.
Some possible topics might be:
Some possible topics might be:
- Recommending books to read to others
- Reviewing the latest video game you played
- Sharing a story that you've written
- The coolest facts you know about dinosaurs
- Your top 10 favorite baseball players
3. Choose the style of your podcast.
The two main styles of podcasts are scripted and conversational.
For a scripted podcast you will write down everything you want to say and then record yourself reading it. It is kind of like writing a speech about the topic that you want to share. You use this style of podcast if you want to tell a story or if you just want to tell people some cool information about something you love.
For a conversational podcast you will need at least one other person to have a conversation with. This could be an interview or just a conversation about a topic between you and someone else. You won't write down everything you're going to say, but you will want to come up with a list of questions or topics that you want to talk about to help keep the conversation going. You use this style if you and your Mom really love basketball and want to talk about it together or if you want interview your dad about what it's like to be a nuclear physicist.

4. Record your podcast.
You can use anything you want to record your podcast. When I make a recording from a device like a phone or iPad, I love the app "Voice Recorder and Audio Editor." It's available for both Apple and Android products.
5. Upload your podcast.
Once you've finished and you're happy with what you made, send it to me and I'll post it for your friends to listen to. If you loved learning about your family, you can make as many podcasts as you want and I'll post them all to the page. I can't wait to hear what you create!
